TUTORIAL: How SDHL became one of the best leagues against all odds
In the Alliance of European Hockey Clubs’ second online tutorial of 2025, Angelica Lindberg will tell everybody: “HOW SDHL BECAME ONE OF THE BEST LEAGUES AGAINST ALL ODDS”
As the title suggests, the tutorial will be about the beginnings of the SDHL – the Swedish Women’s Hockey League – in 2016 and what steps have been taken to succeed and be where it is today. The presentation will begin with a blank white piece of paper to symbolize what Lindeberg started with seven years ago the SDHL’s first employee. Participants will get inspired by the fact that everything is possible if they believe in the journey. More specifically, they will learn what behaviour and path choices have led the league from nothing to something, and also what challenges they are now facing.
Angelica Lindeberg is the COO/CCO who, as the first employee at the SDHL seven years ago, took the league from nothing to something. Working at Telia as her full-time job and entering voluntary work at Djurgården Hockey as a media and team manager for the women’s team, she saw there was a lot that could be done within women’s hockey and that she could be a trailblazer given that no one worked operational and offensive at the league. She left Telia, Djurgården and bet everything on one card. Now seven years later, the SDHL is one of the best leagues in the world, the best league in Europe and has a collective agreement, a TV agreement and partners that, alongside the league, work to make it better and bigger.
